Whose Democracy?: Who Runs?

The Stone Center for Inequality Dynamics launches Whose Democracy?, a two-year initiative of the Stone Working Group on Inequality and Political Economy (SWIPE), with a conversation featuring Noam Lupu of Vanderbilt University and Nick Carnes of Duke University. Roberto F. Carlos of the University of Michigan Department of Political Science will moderate.

About the speakers and moderator

Noam Lupu studies comparative political behavior, political parties, class and inequality, representation, and the legacies of violence. He is the author of Party Brands in Crisis and coeditor of Unequal Democracies.

Nick Carnes studies American politics, economic and social class inequality, and political representation. He is the author of White-Collar Government and The Cash Ceiling.

Roberto F. Carlos studies the intersection of race, ethnicity, and politics, with a focus on Latinx political behavior, immigration, and political socialization. He is also a faculty associate at U-M’s Center for Political Studies in the Institute for Social Research.
