“Exploring the roles of segregation by location and lender on racial inequality mortgage access“
Tuesday, March 5, 2024
11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Although researchers have established strong statistical relationships between segregation and racial inequalities in mortgage lending, they have largely conflated residential segregation with lender segregation. The current project leverages data on over 74 million mortgage applications to examine the dual roles of racial unevenness across geographies and lenders in shaping mortgage outcomes.
